The episode starts with Manten's fantasy of girl's adoring him because he has beautiful hair like Hiten's. But, when he runs his hand through his hair, a lot of it comes out. Then the rest of his hair falls out and the girls don't like him anymore. They run away from him, disgusted. The horse that was pulling the carriage he was riding in turns into a skeleton and then breaks up into pieces as Manten falls to the ground.
Manten falls out of bed and wakes up. He grabs his head but there's no hair. He wants to have as much hair and be as popular as Hiten.

*Flashback recap of episode 9*

Hiten and Inuyasha are threatening each other. Then Hiten attacks with his Raigekijin. Inuyasha has to block carefully since he's fighting lightning. All he can do is block as Hiten is on the attack. Shippo decides to save Kagome as Inuyasha fights Hiten. Manten is enjoying himself as he sits with Kagome inside of a cloud (don't ask me). He decides to help Hiten out and charges his mouth with lightning. Kagome pushes him out of the cloud and he falls. But what she doesn't realize is that Manten controls the cloud. It disappears from under her and she falls. Inuyasha gets distracted by the falling Kagome but Hiten doesn't let him stay distracted. Kagome lands on Manten who then wakes up - pissed. Kagome runs but trips. That's when Shippo uses his spinning top. The top lands on Manten's head and gets progressively bigger until it's enormous, giving Kagome a chance to run away. Myouga pops up and tells them that it's too early to relax since fox magic is just tricks after all. The top on Manten's head gets small again, but, as a result of it, Manten's last hair falls out.

Manten begins to cry and charges up his lightning mouth. Shippo and Kagome run for it. Manten keeps shooting out the lightning, starting several fires, but Shippo and Kagome get away. They hide behind a tree as Manten searches for them. That's when Kagome comes out with an idea concerning the arrow still lodged in Manten's nose. Manten hears them talking and shoots the tree. When the smoke clears he sees Kagome, lying on the ground, unconcious. He picks her up by the hair and Kagome wakes up, a mischevious smile on her face. She insults his lack of hair and suddenly her hair starts to wrap itself around Manten's arms. Then, Kagome (another one) runs up to Manten. She grabs the arrow and pulls it out. That's when the first Kagome's hair turns orange. It's Shippo. Kagome lifts her arms up and prepares to stake Manten through the Shikon shards in his forehead. But Manten frees his left arm and knocks her aside. Shippo transforms back into himself and Manten kicks him away. Then he starts to choke Kagome. She weakly calls out to Inuyasha.

Inuyasha is still fighting Hiten. He pauses to call out to Kagome. Hiten sees this opportunity and stabs him with the Raigekijin. Inuyasha loses the Tetsusaiga and is throws several feet back. Now he's lying on the ground with Hiten hovering over him, the point of Raigekijin pressed against his neck. Inuyasha decides that he can't fight Hiten while he's distracted so he should take care of Kagome's problem first.

Manten is having way too much fun choking Kagome, who is holding on for dear life. Shippo throws himself at Manten but Manten punches him away. Manten tells Shippo that after he kills Kagome, he'll skin him, just like his father. That really gets Shippo. Shippo throws himself at Manten's neck and sinks his teeth in. There are tears streaming down his face but he won't let go, even if he dies. Manten begins to punch Shippo in the head, harder and harder, but Shippo doesn't let go. Hiten warns Manten not to get blood on the fur.

Inuyasha uses Hijinketsusou (vlaws of blood) on Hiten who blocks the attack with his Raigekijin. He encourages Inuyasha to fight his some more but Inuyasha grabs Tetsusaiga. He transforms it, jumps up into the air, and throws it. It misses Hiten and Hiten makes fun of him for missing, but then realizes that he wasn't Inuyasha's target. Tetsusaiga goes straight through Manten's chest and comes out the other side.

Kagome grabs Shippo and sees Tetsusaiga - knowing that she has to get it back to Inuyasha. She grabs the handle and Shippo, half unconcious, says, "Father..."

Meanwhile Hiten is rushing to Manten.

Inuyasha yells at Kagome to get away from there but Hiten throws her to the side with a lightning attack. She falls down into a crater with Shippo and Shippo's father's fur. Tetsusaiga is still on top with Hiten and Manten.

Manten is still alive. A touching brother-to-brother talk is held between Hiten and Manten...and then Manten dies.

Inuyasha rushes to Kagome's side to make sure she's alive. She apologizes to him for not being able to get the Tetsusaiga. Inuyasha refuses to lose to Hiten...with or without a sword. Hiten is crying over his dead brother. He says that he will always keep him by his side, and then he bites Manten's forehead in order to get the shikon shards. Myouga tells Inuyasha to be careful since Hiten now has five shikon shards.

Suddenly, Inuyasha notices that everything is getting illuminated by an eerier blue glow. He realizes what's going on, grabs Kagome, Shippo, and the fur of Shippo's father, and runs right as Hiten's lightning attack hits. Hiten is PISSED. Inuyasha stands up and tells Kagome to take Shippo and run away as far as they can. Kagome turns and runs. Hiten fires a huge lightning ball at Inuyasha. It's too big to dodge. Myouga yells to Inuyasha to use Tetsusaiga's sheath. Inuyasha pulls out the sheath and holds in it front of him. Then the attack hits. *commercials*

Tetsusaiga's sheath blocks the attack, leaving the earth scarred everywhere around Inuyasha. Myouga explains that since the sheath can hold a demon blade, it can stand against a lightning attack. Myouga tells Inuyasha to run away but Inuyasha thinks he can use the sheath. He charges at Hiten and Hiten sends another giant attack at Inuyasha. "If I can get close enough to his chest, I can hit him" he pushes through the attack but suddenly yells out in pain as blood spray in front of him. Hiten has attacked from behind and stabbed Inuyasha in the back with the Raigekijin. Inuyasha falls to the ground.

Shippo wakes up on his father's fur. Kagome tells Shippo that Inuyasha killed Manten...but now he's facing Hiten...

Hiten's attacks have gotten stronger and without Tetsusaiga, Inuyasha is left to defending himself with a sheath. But he's struggling. Shippo notices that Hiten can fly freely because of wheels attached to his ankles. That's when Kagome remembers that she has her arrow...but she doesn't have a bow. Shippo transforms himself into a bow.

Inuyasha gets another injury.

Kagome aims at Hiten's fire wheel, and Shippo assures her that he'll help her hit.

Hiten rushes forward to deliver the death blow to Inuyasha when Kagome's arrow shatters one of his wheels. Inuyasha sees the chance and grabs Raigekijin. He decides that Tetsusaiga's sheath is in his way so he throws it to the side. Then he punches Hiten so hard it throws him backwards several feet. Hiten gets up. That was the first time anyone had ever hit him in the face. He's PISSED PISSED PISSED. His whole body begins to glow blue - so much so that even Kagome and Shippo can feel the heat. Hiten rushes forward at Inuyasha who dives to the side and grabs the sheath just in time. He holds it up in front of him, blocking Raigekijin, but then the sheath begins to crack.

Things don't look good for Inuyasha. Then Kagome remembers Tetsusaiga. Shippo rushes out to get it but it's too dangerous. Kagome grabs the fur of Shippo's father and runs after Shippo. Hiten notices. Still holding Raigekijin against Inuyasha, he uses Manten's lightning-mouth attack on Kagome and Shippo. Inuyasha tries to warn them but no use...it's too late. Shippo and Kagome are engulfed in lightning.

Inuyasha desperately yells out to Kagome but there's no reply. Kagome and Shippo are lying with the fur of Shippo's father across them, and flame all around them.

Inuyasha is now furious. He pushes Hiten back and head-butts him. Hiten attacks again and the sheath begins to break. But then, it begins to pulse, like a heartbeat. The sheath has called the sword. Tetsusaiga rushes towards Inuyasha who grabs it, transforms it, and then kills Hiten with it (who is very much surprised to have lost to a hanyou) Hiten disappears leaving five shikon shards behind. Inuyasha doesn't bother to pick them up.

Then, from behind Inuyasha comes a blue glow and Kagome's voice calls out to him. He turns around and sees Kagome standing there, holding Shippo, engulfed in blue flame. She thanks him for all of his help and Shippo is glad to have avenged his father's death. Myouga tells Inuyasha that those are the ghosts of Kagome and Shippo, bidding their farewells. Then the flame turns into a vertical column of rushing air. Inuyasha runs to Kagome yelling for her not to go. He grabs her wrist, shocking her. Then the flame takes the shape of a fox and disappears. Inuyasha yells out "KAGOMEEEE!" to the sky. That's when he looks forward and sees Kagome standing there with Shippo. Inuyasha is still holding her wrist. "...yes?" she says. Inuyasha gets closer to her...shocked. "You're alive?" Kagome asks him why he was yelling, "don't go!" Shippo seems to know that his father protected them with his fox fire. Myouga says that he knew that it was definitely the fox fire from the fur. Inuyasha develops a nervous twitch (not sure how to spell that...sorry) in his left eye. "Umm..." Kagome says, blushing slightly. Inuyasha notices that he's still holding her wrist. He blushes profusely and throws it down. He's embarassed.

Inuyasha and Kagome are walking with Shippo in Kagome's basket on her bike. Kagome asks Inuyasha what he's so mad about. No answer. Myouga says that he must still be embarassed about his emotional outburst. Inuyasha tells Shippo to go away. Kagome tells Inuyasha that Shippo's still just a kid and that now he's all alone. They go along like this...continually arguing...until the episode ends with a stern "OSUWARI!" (sit...for those of you still unfamiliar with the Japanese word for it)

Okay, this is part 2...

Myouga appears and tells Inu that he must be careful now, because Hiten has five jewel shards. Inu and Kagome sarcastically batter Myouga for his noticeable absence during the fighting. A blast of lightening then shoots toward them and Inu pulls Kagome and Shippo to safety. Seeking revenge for his brother, Hiten is ready to fight and is now very powerful. Inu tells Kagome to take Shippo and get away. She doesn’t want to leave him, but finally agrees. A huge ball of lightening then zooms toward Inu. He knows that he can’t avoid it, and Myouga suddenly tells him to use the sheath of Tetsusaiga to stave off the lightening. Huh? Inu does so and with great effort, repels the power ball. Inu can’t believe that it worked, and Myouga explains that the sheath, because it holds the Tetsusaiga, therefore has strong powers of its own. At least, that was Myouga’s theory (Inu is angry that he faced a lightening ball uisng only a hunch as his defence). Inu then declares that he’s going to use the sheath to beat Hiten. He leaps upward and makes it through another one of Hten’s lightening balls, however Hiten has doubled back and stabs Inu from behind, knocking him to the ground.

Shippo wakes up and Kagome asks him if he is okay. When Shippo asks what’s going on, Kagome tells him. Meanwhile, Hiten continues his assault against Inu, and Kagome is worried that Inu is getting tired. Shippo points out that Hiten has the advantage because of the flame wheels under his feet which help him fly. While Inu beats a retreat, Kagome prepares her arrow (and Shippo transforms himself into a bow for her to use). Hiten gets in another good hit and Inu falls to the ground again. Kagome looses her arrow and it takes out one of Hiten’s flame wheels, just before he strikes Inu. While Hiten is distracted by the loss of his flame wheel, Inu grabs hold of Hiten’s thunder pike (staff) and the lightening surrounds him. Myouga wonders what Inu is doing, especially when Inu tosses the sheath away, claiming not to need it! Huh? Inu bears the lightening surrounding him and proceeds to sucker punch Hiten right in the jaw! Cool! Hiten goes flying backward and hits some rocks, while the others cheer Inu on.

Madder than ever, Hiten renews his attack on Inu. Inu dives for the sheath and uses it to defend himself again. Under the power of Hiten’s lightening bolts, the sheath starts to crack! Uh oh. Not good. Myouga knows that Inu is powerful, but if the sheath breaks...game over. Kagome says that she has to get the Tetsusaiga back to Inu, and Shippo agrees. He runs out to get the sword before Kagome can stop him, so she runs out after him, dragging the fox fur along with her. Hiten sees them running, and Inu realizes that Hiten has absorbed Manten’s fireblowing ability. Inu yells a warning to Kagome, but it’s too late! Hiten blasts Kagome and Shippo with the fireblast, and they are lost in flames. Inu yells for Kagome, and then he sees her and Shippo lying in the middle of the flames, not moving.

Hiten gloats over killing them, and Inu gets really angry now. He retaliates against Hiten for killing his friends, and Hiten can’t understand why a half breed like Inu is so strong. He taunts Inu by saying that Inu shouldn’t be fighting because of a woman, and that avenging a brother is a much better reason to fight. Hiten attacks Inu again, and just when it looks like the sheath is about to break, it emits a strange pulse. Suddenly, the Tetsusaiga comes flying toward Inu, and he is able to grab it. Myouga is astounded - the sheath summoned the sword! With one swift stroke, Inu makes short work of Hiten. Hiten, as he dies, can’t believe that he and his brother were beaten by a half demon.

The five jewel shards fall to the gound, but Inuyasha doesn’t seem to care about them. He wishes that he’d beaten Hiten sooner so that Kagome and Shippo would still be alive (aawww, Inu!) Inu hears his name and turns around to find Kagome, with Shippo in her arms, surrounded by a blue flame. Kagome commends Inu for his courage, and Shippo indicates that he was finally able to avenge his father. Myouga explains to Inu that their souls have come to say their final goodbye to him before crossing over to the spirit world. When the blue flame shoots upward, Inu thinks they are leaving, and runs over to them, crying “Wait! Don’t leave me!” He grabs Kagome’s wrist and hangs on. He watches the blue flame disappear into the sky and calls Kagome’s name. Only then does he realize that he’s still holding her wrist! When Inu realizes they haven’t gone, Kagome (in a really great part), says “What’s with the ‘don’t leave me stuff’?” (classic!) Shippo realizes that the blue flame was the spirit of his fox father, which had protected them from the real flames. Myouga tries to cover up his previous mistake about their souls crossing to the other side, but Inu is infuriated. He lets go of Kagome and claims not to care if they had died or not.

As the group goes off together, Inu is still steamed for having revealed his feelings to Kagome. Inu asks why Shippo is still with them, and Shippo claims that they need him. Kagome wants Shippo to stay, and Inu agrees, but only until Shippo can look after himself. As they fade into the horizon (and in another classic Inuyasha ending), we hear Inu tell Shippo “Your village called - they’re missing their idiot.” Shippo whines to Kagome about Inu being “mean”, and she chastizes Inu, telling him to say sorry. All we hear is a crunch and Inu saying “Ow!” You gotta love it. [End]

I'm going to do this in two summaries, because it's detailed!!! Spoiler alert too. What follows is part 1.

The ep opens with a dream sequence in which Manten (with a full head of hair) is surrounded by women. He thinks he is popular now because of his hair, like his brother Hiten. Suddenly, his hair starts falling out, and the women run in terror. He remembers that since puberty, his dreams have all ended the same (without hair). He believes that, if he had some hair, he would be able to get some women. Maybe not as many as his brother Hiten, but at least some for himself.

We get a flashback to when Hiten and Manten went on a rampage and killed hundreds of men in battle with their terrible powers. We then see a few flashbacks from the last ep, when Kagome shot Manten through the nose, and when Hiten finally started to attack Inu (Inu repelled the first blow, and that’s when Hiten knew that he was in for a good fight).

After some verbal banter between Hiten and Inu, Hiten attacks. Hiten is pretty confident, and Inu knows that he’ll be a goner with one touch of Hiten’s lightening. They continue to spar. Shippo tries to think of a way to save Kagome while Inu keeps Hiten busy. Meanwhile, Kagome is worried about Inu. Manten is cheering Hiten on, and when it looks like Manten is going to help Hiten out a bit, Kagome says that two against one isn’t fair, and pushes Manten off the cloud. Manten hits the ground, but the cloud then disappears and Kagome falls down too. Shippo and Inu are worried about Kagome’s fall, but Hiten stops Inu from helping her, saying that Inu shouldn’t put a woman before a battle. Inu promises Kagome that he’ll help her as soon as he’s done with Hiten, but Kagome yells something to him about gravity, then falls on top of Manten (he breaks her fall).

Manten then wakes up and chases after Kagome, who trips and falls. Shippo saves her by using some fox magic - Poof! A top appears on Manten’s head, then seems to grow and pins Manten to the ground. Kagome runs over to Shippo, congratulating him on his nice move, but Myouga points out that Shippo’s magic is just an illusion. They watch as the top shrinks again and Manten gets up. When he realizes that all of his hair has now fallen out, he is enraged, unleashing a powerful beam of fire from his mouth which starts destroying the land around them. He promises to hunt down Kagome and Shippo, using her for a hair potion and him for a new “belt”.

Kagome gets an idea, and asks Shippo for help. Shippo shapeshifts himself to look like Kagome, and when Manten grabs him, he uses his hair to hold Manten while Kagome approaches and pulls out the arrow from Manten’s nose (the one she put there in the last ep). She uses the arrow to aim for the shards in Manten’s forehead, but Manten blocks her strike and knocks her down, then kicks Shippo away. He then reaches down and starts to choke Kagome!

Kagome calls for Inu, and when Inu is momentarily distracted, Hiten stabs Inu with the lightening staff. Inu falls back and drops the Tetsusaiga. Now Hiten has him where he wants him. He ridicules Inu for his compassion, then ponders whether to kill Inu first, or Kagome. Meanwhile, Inu tells himself inwardly that he has to save Kagome first and take care of Hiten later (hmm, interesting). Hiten asks Manten if they should hurry this up or prolong it, and Manten replies that he’s enjoying himself. Shippo tries to help Kagome, but is knocked away again by Manten. Shippo is angered when Manten taunts him using his father’s fox fur around his waist.

Hiten praises Manten for his villainous nature, but Shippo attacks Manten again, biting him. He won’t let go, and Manten starts hitting him to get him off. Inu tells Hiten that he himself has done evil things in the past, but that he’s “innocent” compared to the two brothers. He throws some blades of blood at Hiten, then runs over and grabs the Tetsusaiga. He then leaps into the air and thows the Tetsusaiga toward Hiten. It misses, and Hiten ridicules Inu; that is, until he realizes that Inu’s true target was Manten! Manten is impaled and falls to the ground, releasing Kagome.

Kagome picks up Shippo and grabs for the Tetsusaiga. In a sudden panic for his brother, Hiten flies over toward Kagome and Shippo, and Inu tells them to get out of the way before Hiten kills them. Hiten throws lightening at them and they are knocked down into a large crater. Hiten then kneels beside Manten and a brotherly moment ensues where Manten tells Hiten that his hair is gone and with it, his chance for happiness. We get a flashback to a picture of the brothers’ father, and their monster mother. Manten explains that Hiten got all the good looks (and hair) from their father and he got all the reptilian monster looks from their mother. Hiten expresses that beuty is on the inside (what is this?) and that he loves his brother just the way his is (anyone for a kleenex?). Manten then says something silly about being reborn as a caterpillar with lots of hair (I had to laugh at that one!), then he changes his mind and says he’d be born bald again as long as he could be Hiten’s brother (okay it’s getting corny at this point). Manten then dies.

Meanwhile, Inu runs over to Kagome to see if she’s alright. She is, but she dropped the Tetsusaiga when the ligtening hit. She apologizes for messing up, and the always insensitive Inu agrees that she messed up (how rude!). But he tells her that sword or no sword, he’s still going to beat Hiten. Hiten cries for his lost brother, then proceeds to bite the shards out of Manten’s head, in order to gain his power (eeww!).

Part 2 to follow...
